Between 23 and 25 October 2008, The Istanbul Science Communication Networking Event Project will bring FameLabers, project partners, science communicators, Cheltenham Science Festival Organizers and famous scientists such as Robert Winston, together from ten South East European countries. While this event aims to develop skills of the rapidly emerging SEE science network, to showcase Beautiful Science’s content and success and targets to create a declaration about science communication in the region, it also includes programs that will show aspects of science never seen outside laboratories to a wide audience by FameLabers.
The Istanbul Science Communication Networking Event involves the following three basic programmes of activities;
We are organizing experience sharing and capacity building seminars by bringing together British science communicators who are the winners of numerous international prizes, as well as the finalists of Famelab competitions in 2007 and 2008 in all ten countries. This was a competition aiming to take science out of the classroom and convert it into fun, thereby encouraging young people towards the subjects of science and technology in Europe. Following these seminars, these science communicators will deliver public performances.
Visualise Science Show by Science Made Simple will transfer scientific realities to the audience without words and through entertaining presentations in Visualise theater. It aims to make public enjoy science and to connect such events to their daily lives.
