  • Now it is 04:30 I am watching Genç Bakış Programme on 1 March and I do not regret that I am sleepless. I am feeling sorry that such an unique programme can not be watched by a majority of people. Please take the sleeping time of the people in consideration while broadcasting such valuable programmes.
    Ahmet Biçer
  • I would like to express my sincere thanks to Kanal D and Abbas Güçlü for having such a programme. I got bored with the magazine programmes and TV series. I believe that Turkish people need such educative programmes.

Famelab Competition 2007 - 2nd Heat in Turkey

Beautiful Science Project is rolling!

The "Heats" of the FameLab Competition took place at the METU Culture and Convention Centre on 19-20 and 28 February 2007. After the heats, 10 contestants out of 82 were successful to take part in the Final on 21 March 2007.

The 2nd Heat on 28 February was broadcasted live on Kanal D - Genç Bakış Programme for 4 hours. We were very much delighted to see that an audience of 400 stayed until the end of the programme at 04:00 a.m. The audience also actively participated to the programme by their comments and questions. We received hundreds of emails from the TV audience highlighting their appreciation to the thinking behind the FameLab competition.

A Masterclass about communicating science was held for the 10 finalists during the weekend of 17-18 March. A very talented Science Communicator, Presenter and TV Director, Dr.Sanjida O’Connell, from the UK ran the masterclass. On the second day a local science communicator led the workshop. The contestants received invaluable tips on how to improve science communication and presentation skills before the finals on 21 March where an overall winner will be selected. Together with the winners of the 9 countries in the region the Turkey winner will win a paid trip to the UK Cheltenham Science Festival in June 2007.

The final on 21 March was again broadcasted live on Kanal D Genç Bakış Programme. The jury panel composed of Prof.Dr.Celal Şengör, Sinan Aygün, Cem Davran, Prof.Dr.Ural Akbulut, Neşe Erberk made delicate assessments of the presentations of the 10 finalists to be able to identify the winner, 1st runner up and 2nd runner up.
