British Council activities will continue in Izmir, although there will not be a British Council office in the city from April 2009 onwards.  Details of our services are outlined below.  Further information is available from customer.services@britishcouncil.org.tr

Cambridge ESOL English language exams for schools
Emel Çelikbaş will continue to administer and deliver the Cambridge ESOL exams on behalf of the British Council from the office in Izmir University of Economics.  She can be contacted on emel.celikbas@gmail.com, tel 0532 492 9460
IELTS Examinations
These exams will continue to be delivered in Izmir each month.  The next exam is on April 18th and all information is available on www.britishcouncil.org/turkey-learning-exams-ielts-home
Wednesday Workshops for English language teachers
These will continue at the French Cultural Institute on alternate Wednesday evenings at 18.00.   The next workshop is on 15th April at 18.00 and the full programme is available on http://www.britishcouncil.org/turkey-english-teacher-training-wednesday-workshops.htm

Teacher training courses
Two new eight-week teacher training (20 hour) courses will open on Monday evenings at the French Cultural Institute

  • ‘British Council Teaching Young Learners Certificate’  starting on Monday 13th April,
  • ‘British Council Integrating Drama in the EFL Classroom’ starting on Monday 20th April.
