How to register

We would like to remind you that starting from NOVEMBER 2007, IELTS applications sent by fax are not going to be accepted

Registering for an IELTS exam is easy just follow the simple steps below.

Your registration will be finalized once you fill in the IELTS online application form and submit the form with your uploaded picture.

Please remember to bring the documents listed below to all parts of the exam:

2 Identifications in order to attend the exam (National ID Card “Nufus Cuzdani”, Passport, Driver’s License or Register of Residence “Resimli ikametgah”
Copy of your National ID card or Passport
1 Passport Photo (taken within the last 6 months)
Originals of 8 Page IELTS Application Form
Bank Deposit Slip

PLEASE DEPOSIT YOUR IELTS FEE OF £110 BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION FORM
YOUR ONLINE APPLICATION WILL NOT BE VALID WITHOUT THE PAYMENT

YOUR UPLOADED PICTURE IS GIONG TO BE USED ON YOUR TEST RESULT FORM,
SO PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT THE PICTURE YOU SEND IS TAKEN ACCORDING TO THE REGULATIONS DESCRIBED BELOW

Size

  • The size of your picture should not be more than 100KB
  • Please upload a bmp, jpg, jpeg or a png file.

Head Position

  • Person being photographed must directly face the camera.
  • Head of the person should not be tilted up, down, or to the side.
  • Head of the person should cover about 50% of the area of the photograph.

Background

  • Person being photographed should be in front of a neutral, light-coloured background.
  • Dark or patterned backgrounds are not acceptable.

Focus

  • Photograph must be in focus.
  • Decorative Items
  • Photographs in which the person is being photographed is wearing sunglasses or other items that detract from the face will not be accepted.

How to register

1. Find out which IELTS module you need to take
a.Academic
b.General Training

2. Check test dates and registration deadlines
Registrations are accepted 6 weeks prior to the test date
Late registration fee will be charged for applications made within the 6th week before the test date, provided there is vacancy for that date

Late Registration Fee: £30

3. Deposit your IELTS Test Fee of £110 into British Council Bank Account:

Include on the bank deposit slip: first name, last name, city, date and name of test (i.e.IELTS)
Important Notice for candidates who register for IELTS Examination from another country
In order to have £110 of IELTS Examination fee transferred safely, please make sure that you have all the bank details stated below.

Please note that you are responsible for all the extra transfer and exchange fees. Therefore, payments less than £110 will not be accepted
The Exams Department, Istanbul has all the rights to refuse your application if the procedures are not followed as stated above

4. Fill in the IELTS application form on our web page and submit the form with your uploaded picture.

Your candidate number and confirmation of your registration will be sent to your email address in 3 days. Please contact us by calling 0212 355 5657 if you do not receive an email in 3 days.

1 week prior to the examination date, day&time and venue details of the written and oral exam sessions will be announced on our page page. You will be able to track your details with your candidate number.

5. Fill in the eight-page application form.

You must bring the 8-page Application form on the exam day otherwise, you will not be able to attend the examination.

TEST FORMAT
Candidates are tested in listening, reading, writing and speaking. All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking Modules. There is a choice between Academic and General Training in the Reading and Writing Modules

LISTENING:~30 minutes
READING:60 minutes
WRITING:60 minutes
SPEAKING:11-14 minutes

There is a choice between Academic and General Training in the Reading and Writing Modules. Candidates are responsible to find out which IELTS module they need to take.

Academic is for candidates who plan to undertake further or higher education

General Training is for candidates who plan to undertake work experience or immigration

IELTS TEST RESULTS (TEST REPORT FORM)

You will receive only one copy of your test report form (TRF).
Test report forms are mailed to candidates on the 13th day after the test in sealed envelopes via a courier company
We cannot give details of results over the telephone, fax or e-mail
Original test report forms can be sent to several institutions. Please see below for details.
Starting from November 2007 you will be able to see your test results online
Test results are going to be announced 13 days after the test date for 2 weeks long.

How to order Test Report Forms?

  • In order to send your Test Report Form to the institutions in Turkey, you need to transfer £4 per copy
  • If you would like to have your Test Report Form sent to abroad, you need to transfer one of the following DHL fees to the same bank account, then send an email to ielts@britishcouncil.org.tr with your full name, mailing address, date of exam and payment
  • Please note that if you send your email without making the payment your request will not be valid
  • Your Test Report Form will be submitted in 2 days

TEST DAY

You should arrive at the test venue according to the time that will be announced to you
The test starts at 09:00
You must have two different forms of identification (National ID, passport and/or driver’s licence) in order to attend the test. Please keep in mind that Student ID’s and Office ID’s are not accepted. If you do not have an ID you will not be allowed to sit the test
You must bring 1 photo (taken within the last 6 months) & the originals of all the application documents
You must bring your own pencils, pens, rubber and sharpener
You are not allowed to bring into the test room any bags, books, papers, food, beverages cameras, mobile phones, tape recorders or any other electronic devices

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

IELTS results are valid for two years
The oral exam can take place within one week before or after the written examination. Please make your plans accordingly
We reserve the right to make changes in the test dates and fees without prior notice which does not apply to candidates that have already registered

The British Council is responsible for the administration of the exams. However, the British Council will not be liable for any delays or cancellations arising from reasons beyond our control. In such circumstances, British Council will show the utmost effort in returning to normal operations in the shortest time possible.
