BRITISH COUNCIL GLOBAL TKT (TEACHING KNOWLEDGE TEST) ESSENTIALS COURSE

Our Global TKT (Teaching Knowledge Test) Essentials Course aims to provide teachers with an introduction to the basic theory, associated with a communicative approach to English Language Teaching. The course structure and content is based on the syllabus of the Cambridge ESOL Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT). If you are not familiar with TKT, you can find comprehensive information at the Cambridge ESOL website at: http://www.cambridgeesol.org/TKT

Our workshops are very practical in nature and involve you in discussion and sharing your ideas and experience of teaching English. The programme encourages you to reflect on your teaching and explore new ways of looking at what happens in the EFL classroom with a critical eye.

You have 2 options, if you are planning to join our Global TKT Essentials Course; the face to face course or the online course. Both types of courses for Global TKT Essentials have the following modules. .

Module 1
Language and background to language learning and teaching:

			describing language and language skills .
			background to language learning.
			background to language teaching.

Modules 2 and 3
Planning lessons and use of resources for language teaching:

			planning and preparing a lesson or sequence of lessons.
			selection and use of resources and materials.

Managing the teaching and learning process:

			teachers' and learners' language in the classroom.
			classroom management

Who can participate?

			If you are an experienced teacher and want to refresh/update your knowledge of teaching theory in the communicative method.
			If you are an experienced teacher and are not familiar with the communicative methodology and would like to gain an understanding of its principles and practice.
			If you are an inexperienced teacher or a teacher in pre-service training and wish to receive a basic grounding in teaching theory in preparation for teaching practice.
			If you are a teacher with a minimum level of English of B1 level in the Common European Framework (CEF), you can join our Global TKT Essentials classes.
