The Young Creative Fashion Entrepreneur of Turkey awarded to Can Soylu!

The winner of the British Council’s Young Fashion Entrepreneur Competition was announced on 23 June at an award ceremony held at İstanbul Moda Academy.

This was the second time that the British Council Turkey organised the Young Fashion Entrepreneur (IYFE) award in partnership with Istanbul Moda Academy (IMA). Short listed finalists presented their experiences in fashion sector and future plans to the jury that included Eren Çamurdan (General Manager, A&Y Marka Mağazacılık), Gamze Saraçoğlu (Fashion Designer), Penny Martin (Editor, The Gentlewoman Magazine), Seda Lafçı (Director, İMA) and Wendy Malem (CEO of Centre for Fashion Enterprise).

Can Soylu, is the founder of Lastik Pabuç which is a unique sneaker boutique in Istanbul. For further information you can check his video and the following link.

As the winner of Turkey, he will visit the UK in September to participate in the sector tour and the international competition. All the expenses of the tour will be covered by the British Council and Soylu will undertake a common programme with the other finalists where they will have a chance to take part in valuable networking both with key UK fashion sector partners and amongst their IYFE peers. The participants will also have the opportunity to attend various events and shows as part of London Fashion Week.

The British Council’s Young Creative Entrepreneur (YCE) programme connects a global network of innovative emerging entrepreneurs in the creative sector. It champions those who find new ways to take creative work to audiences and communities and highlights the wider social, economic and cultural benefits in doing so. The focus of the programme is to catalyse future collaboration and business between the UK and participating countries around the world.
