The winner of the British Council’s Young Interactive Entrepreneur Competition was announced on 23 September at an award ceremony held at Cezayir Restaurant, Istanbul.

This was the second time that the British Council Turkey organised the Young Interactive Entrepreneur (IYIE) award to champion and celebrate the importance of creative entrepreneurs working in the field of the interactive media. For this purpose, short listed finalists presented their experiences in interactive sector and future plans to the jury that included Daljit Singh (Founder of Digit and independent Creative Director), Ferhan Özkan (TTNET, Product Development Supervisor), Gökhan Karakuş (E-Medya, Director / Designer, Critic and Theorist), Güney Yasavur (Superonline, Web & Content Services Project Manager) and Funda Küçükyılmaz (Arts Projects Coordinator, British Council).

Vadi Efe is the founder and the manager of a social network platform called “ortakantin”. As the winner of Turkey, he had a chance to visit the UK in October to participate in the international competition on the 20th of October. All the expenses of the tour was covered by the British Council and the winner undertook a common programme with the other finalists where they had a chance to take part in valuable networking both with key UK interactive media sector partners and amongst their IYIE peers.

During the programme, they went to London, and to one other city/region, to meet leaders of the interactive sector. The tour comprised visits, meetings, seminars and events. It also included a masterclass with an internationally renowned UK interactive sector entrepreneur during which the finalists were able to question them about the development of their highly successful business. At the end of the international competition, Anup Tapadia from India has become the International Young Interactive Entrepreneur 2010.
