Our work in Turkey

Who we are

We connect people worldwide with learning opportunities and creative ideas from the UK and build lasting relationships between the UK and other countries. Our Arts team is made up of 100 staff in the UK who search for the best UK artists to tour overseas, and arts managers in each country, who develop programmes that are right for their country.

What we do

Promoting UK creativity

Our arts work in Turkey gives you a taste of the creativity, innovation and dynamism of arts and culture in the UK. Together with our local partners we bring you examples of the best young artists and performers in contemporary music, visual arts, theatre and dance, design and literature.

Building new audiences

New media and new technology are a great influence on the arts in the UK. We want to introduce you to artists who are using the latest technology to bring new dimensions to their work. These innovations also allow us to reach audiences all over Turkey, bringing the most innovative arts projects to audiences and arts professionals who might otherwise not be able see them.

Building arts networks

Some events, like our performing arts workshops, bring together arts professionals from the UK and Turkey to build networks of fellow professionals and encourage collaboration. They give local practitioners and academics an opportunity to meet, to share resources, and to work with leading professionals from the UK.

Working together

From time to time we link arts work with projects in sectors such as Governance, Human Rights and Science. The aim is to use the arts to make these projects more accessible to participants and to the public and to increase their impact.
