Together with our local partners we bring you examples of the best young artists and performers in contemporary music, visual arts, theatre and dance, design and literature.

Artist Residency in Diyarbakır
The British Council, in partnership with Anadolu Kültür, is running an artist in residency programme in Diyarbakır between 5 May and 11 June. British artist Cressida Kocienski will be undertaking the residency programme, working with local artists and the wider community and exhibit the work developed at the end of her visit.
Candoco Dance Company Workshops
Candoco Dance Company, an organisation of disabled and non-disabled dancers, is now in Istanbul to run a workshop in collaboration with Kadir Has University, Department of Theatre. Workshops will be run on the 1st and 2nd of February by  Sarah Blanc and Kate Marsh.
Mardin Biennial 21 September - 21 October, 2012
In collaboration with British Council Turkey. Mardin Biennial brought important contemporary artists and art works from Britain including Mona Hatoum, Mike Nelson and Hrair Sarkissian.
Istanbul Performing Arts Platform
Istanbul Performing Arts Platform presented a selection of theater and dance performances premiered over the last years in Istanbul and invite anyone keen to see the latest crop of new performances from the city and discuss developments within the scene. The platform was held in Kadir Has University and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University between April 5-8th 2012.
MALIA Concert at Tamirane, 24 March Saturday
In collaboration with British Council, Malawi (Africa) born British singer Malia, took fans on a musical journey back to the golden age of jazz at Tamirane.
Filmmor Women's Film Festival
Filmmor Women’s Cooperative, established exclusively for women in 2003, is here to make movies, to raise objections, to produce, to dream and to realize for women together with women. In collaboration with British Council, Filmmor will offer various screenings and workshops between 9 and 19 March 2012.
11th !f Istanbul International Independent Film Festival
In collaboration with British Council, this year !f İstanbul hosted 3 acclaimed guests: Rupert Everett, Grant Gee and Michael Nyman. The Festival was held between 16 and 26 February, 2012.
Sustainable Living Film Festival 2-4 December, 2011
3 day long festival offered 2 Turkish and 14 foreign documentary screenings with subtitles, short films and animations, thematic talks following some of the screenings, musical performances and other events, which were all open to public free of charge with the support of partners including the British Council.
Istanbul Tanpinar Literature Festival (ITEF)
This year the festival gathered 54 authors from 13 countries around a literature feast with their readers in Turkey. In partnership with British Council, ITEF organised discussion sessions with Ellah Allfrey, Adam Foulds and Mark Crick. For the biographies and the festival schedule you may visit here.
The Cinematic Orchestra
The Cinematic Orchestra, one of the leading ensembles of Contemporary Music in the world, was at Tamirane once again for two concerts on the 20th and 21st of May. British Council gave free tickets to 4 lucky winners.
Chris Morris & Four Lions
In collaboration with British Council, Chris Morris' Four Lions was screend at !f Istanbul 10th AFM International Independent Film Festival. The screenings were followed by Q&A session by the director.
The Jameel Prize 2009 Exhibition
“The Jameel Prize 2009” exhibition of Victoria & Albert Museum (V&A) in London, organised by Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum (SSM) in collaboration with the British Council, opened its doors on November 12, 2010.
Kutluğ Ataman – The Enemy Inside Me (10 November 2010 – 6 March 2011)
İstanbul Modern will be presenting the most comprehensive exhibition ever held by the internationally renowned contemporary artist Kutluğ Ataman, The Enemy Inside Me, that will bring together Ataman’s video installations as the first large-scale show.

Seperate Voices - Flims from Northern Ireland
British Council, in partnership with Anadolu Kultur organized a special screening of a selection of films in Batman, İzmir, Diyarbakir, Mardin and Van as a part of Separate Voices: Films from the Northern Ireland event.
Cultural Heritage & NGOs in the UK
Within the framework of the Cultural Heritage and NGOs panel series, in cooperation with British Council, Europa Nostra Istanbul 2010 held the final of the series meeting “Cultural Heritage and NGOs in UK” on May 22 at the British Consulate-General, following the Netherlands meeting on April 9 and the Germany meeting on May 7.
British Playwrights Talk at DOT
Dot organised British Playwrights Talk in collaboration with British Council by inviting British playwrights in 2009/2010 season to talk about their plays and discuss the current role of contemporary theatre in the world politics and societies.
40 Stations
After its first stop in London, 40 Stations: Portraits from Turkey and the UK Exhibition took place in Istanbul. The exhibition was displayed at ARTANE between February 21st and March 14th.
Lure of the East
Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Pera Museum, welcomes “The Lure of the East” British Orientalist Painting exhibition which was organised in collaboration with Tate Britain and British Council and showcasing the most significant examples of British orientalist painting worldwide.
Sustainable Living Film Festival
Sustainable Living Film Festival took place at the Italian Cultural Institute, November 26-28, 2008, every day from 10:00 to 22:00. There were 25 Turkish and foreign documentaries and animations screened in their original language with Turkish subtitles.
Masterpieces of World Ceramics from The Victoria and Albert Museum at Pera Museum
The Pera Museum presented in İstanbul a unique selection of ceramics from the globally renowned ceramics collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum. Exhibition was in partnership with The World Collections Programme, the British Council and The Headley Trust.
Creative Collaboration
Creative Collaboration was British Council’s regional project which operates in partnership with artists, cultural producers and creative entrepreneurs to create a series of collaborative cross-border art projects in South East Europe and the UK.
