Soirée Ramadanesque
Soirée Ramadanesque
3 October 2007

We organised a Soirée Ramadanesque in our Knowledge and Learning Centre (KLC) on Wednesday 3 October 2007.  This was our third such annual event in a row and Peter Skelton, Director; along with British Council staff were delighted to welcome and greet our existing clients and partners and introduce some new contacts to our facilities.

Around 135 corporate, Ministry and educational clients, contacts and partners participated in the Soirée and were offered the opportunity to network and to find out more about the services that we offer such as English courses, exams and the projects that we run throughout the year with our Tunisian partners in education, English, governance, arts and science.

Traditional Tunisian cakes and savouries were served with non-alcoholic beverages by the Al Walima caterer.  Mohamed Touati played his lute and sang Tunisian and some well-known Middle-Eastern songs.

Our guests were invited to attend two presentations. The first one was given by Janice Jerbi, a British Council teacher, entitled 'The British Council- What Can We Do For You?’.  Janice gave an overview about the courses on offer and explained the different exams and the prospects they offer for people who would like to work within an English environment, to continue their education abroad or emigrate to live and work in English speaking countries.

The second presentation was given by Anton Elloway, our ICT Coordinator.  The 'Interactive White Board (IWB)' demonstration displayed the different added values this facility can offer to enhance the learning of our students through different tools such as instant internet access to online resources while in the classroom.  Our guests had the opportunity to try the board themselves and could enjoy hands-on experience with this amazing educational tool.

It was an enjoyable and productive evening. Mutually interesting areas for collaboration and co-operation were discussed.  We look forward to following them up with our partners in the near future.
