Have you recently enrolled, or are about to enrol, on a twelve month postgraduate course in the UK? Do you want help with funding your studies? Are you 35 or under and already experienced in your chosen career? Would you like to develop your career and become part of an influential global alumni? Then a British Chevening Scholarship could be right for you.
The UK Government (through the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO)) runs a scholarships scheme, Chevening Scholarships aimed at young professional postgraduates (aged 25 - 35) in early or mid-career who display the potential to become the future leaders, decision-makers and opinion-formers of their respective countries. Candidates should have a proven track record of success or excellence in their professional life, something that distinguishes them from their peers and contemporaries.
Chevening provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend a full academic year at a British university, return home with a Masters qualification and gain a better appreciation of British life and culture. The scheme began in 1983 and has since developed into one of the world's premier scholarship schemes, fully comparable with high profile scholarships such as Rhodes and Fulbright. Chevening provides more scholarships and operates in more countries than either Rhodes or Fulbright and has 40,000 distinguished alumni including a Head of State (Cost Rica), a former President (of Columbia) and former Prime Ministers (of Mongolia and Hungary). The British Council administers Chevening scholarships for the FCO.
Candidates must:
- Be graduate with proven academic skills; - Have good English language skills, both oral and written; - Have a proven track record of success or excellence in their professional life, something that distinguishes them from their peers and contemporaries; - Be able to show at interview that they possess the personal qualities to benefit from their scholarship and use it to succeed in their chosen career; - Be committed to return to Tunisia and contribute to the socio-economic development of Tunisia through implementing new skills and knowledge acquired in the UK.
Interested candidates should identify a suitable course in a British university and fill in an application form which they can either download from the British Council website or receive it from the British Council office.
The deadline for returning completed application forms is Monday 1st December 2008.
