About Our Participants
Berlin Launch

TN2020 was launched between the 16th and 19th March 2008 in Berlin. Thirty young leaders from North America and Europe came together for three days of lively discussion and brainstorming, followed by a Press Launch on the 19th March.

The launch of the project included:

Release of major new research exploring the attitudes of people in both continents towards the future of the transatlantic relationship.
Publishing a series of thought-provoking essays by both established and non-professional writers on the current relationship between Europe and North America.
Bringing the first cohort of young leaders together to plan the future development of the network and prepare for the first summit in Belfast and Dublin in September 2008.
Asking participants to make a personal commitment to strengthening the transatlantic relationship.

During the workshop, the group did the following:

Dissected today's transatlantic relationship, using our market research and essays as support, and discussed how the relationship is likely to develop over the coming decades.
Analysed the global networks that are transforming the nature of contemporary international relations.
Debated what role Transatlantic Network 2020 should play in the future transatlantic relationship and where it should focus its energies.
