The idea for The Pitch was created by Coventry University and developed at the invitation of Education UK and the British Council Thailand.

Coventry is a dynamic, enterprising and creative University with a vibrant and diverse mix of students, of all ages, backgrounds and cultures. Of the 17,000 students at Coventry University, almost 4,000 come from overseas; from around 130 different countries.

The University has a growing reputation for excellence in education and a long standing commitment to international engagement. Three words set it apart - employability, enterprise and entrepreneurship. Coventry University was 'Highly Commended' in the Entrepreneurial University of the Year category at the Times Higher Awards 2008 and won the competition for outstanding leadership development.

The University’s aim is to keep on improving: investing heavily in developing state-of-the-art facilities with £160million earmarked for improvements over the next ten years.

And by seeking to enhance the strong vocational emphasis of its courses and bolstering links with the best industry organisations, Coventry University is firmly focussed on preparing students for successful futures in the global world of work.

Graduates from its sports management degree course, headed by the world’s first ever Professor of Sport Business Strategy and Marketing, Simon Chadwick, have gone on to work in a variety of roles in sporting organisations, ranging from commercial, marketing and stadium managers for football clubs, through to sponsorship consultants, events managers and player agents in sports like basketball and ice hockey.

The Pitch was developed by Professor Chadwick, who will be available to provide valuable support throughout the competition.

The business of sport is one of many areas where Coventry has a worldwide reputation: these include entreprenership, art and design, peace and reconciliation and social cohesion.
