Our 10-week courses are available throughout the year, as well as special courses in summer.

  • Term 1:   May-July
  • Term 2:   July-October

Levels: Starter - Upper-intermediate

Whether you are studying, working or simply want to improve you general level of English then Premier English will meet your everyday English needs.

This course will give you the skills and confidence to meet the challenges of using English in daily life. Whether your goal is communicating effectively with English speakers both in and outside of work, getting that new job, or improving your academic performance, Premier English will enable you to rise to the challenge. Premier English is also a great springboard to other courses such as IELTS, Business English and Premier Writing where you can focus on a particular area in detail.

Course Aims

The main emphasis is to develop your confidence in communication through practising real-life tasks in the classroom such as:

Communicating socially and at work or study
Making arrangements
Sharing opinions and experiences
Taking part in discussions
Giving talks
Conducting research
Reading and writing emails
Note taking and editing

Levels and Sample Tasks

Starter

Introduce your home town and write a postcard.
This task will help you talk about where you come from. You will practise asking and answering questions about where you live, and describing places.
Talk about your family and make a family tree.
This task will help you introduce the people in your family. You will practise describing relationships as well as asking and answering questions about family members.

Elementary

Act as an eyewitness for the police.
This task will help you talk about things you have seen and experienced. You will practise choosing the most suitable language to describe events in the past. You will also practise describing people.
Create an advert for a budget airline’s special offer.
This task will help you discuss your ideas in a group, reach decisions and act on them. You will practise presenting key information in a persuasive way.

Pre-intermediate

Write an informal letter of invitation.
This task will help you write informal messages to friends and family. You will practise organising your writing and expressing details clearly. Your teacher will help you correct your work.
Role-play a job interview.
In this task you will develop your ability to answer questions about yourself, expand your answers and make a good impression. Your teacher will help you with pronunciation and useful phrases.

Intermediate

Write a news story.
This task will help you organise your writing so it is clear and easy to understand. You will study newspapers and online articles and practise writing newspaper headlines, and imagine stories to go with them.
Discuss tips for visitors to Thailand. Research & produce something similar for another East Asian country.
This task will help you participate in discussions. You will practise expressing your thoughts and will develop your ability to listen and take notes.

Upper-intermediate

Give advice about moral dilemmas.
In this task you will outline an issue or a problem clearly, speculate about causes or consequences, and weigh advantages and disadvantages of different approaches.
Hold a meeting to organise a special event.
This task will help you express and defend your opinions and give evaluations in a formal meeting. You will practice dividing responsibilities, and write up your decisions in a formal proposal.
