General Certificate of Education or GCE is widely recognised as the British Qualification taken at the upper secondary school level. GCE examinations are offered every May/June and January by Edexcel foundation, which is the merger of the University of London Examinations and Assessment Council (ULEAC), and the Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC).

Although GCE ‘O’ level has been replaced for students in the United Kingdom by GCSE, overseas students are still able to study for GCE ‘O’ level outside the UK and the qualification continues to be widely recognised by British universities and colleges.
