Our IELTS scholarship winners 2011

The thing that I like most about the IELTS was probably the interview because I felt that a standard test with a real live human being is something that is easier and more friendly to handle
IELTS is now widely accepted all over the world, so no matter which university or college that you are applying to, I think the IELTS is a standard test, and it is recognised worldwide.

The points that I decided myself to take IELTS with the British Council are as follows:  firstly, it is about the staff. I think there is a very warm welcome from all staff at the British Council to all candidates; they understand all candidates may feel nervous, anxiety, or some stress about the exam. They try to relieve their stress and try to suggest as much as they can to help.

In addition, it is about the menu because by the time that you register with the British Council, it offers you the menu which is about the guidelines to the sections or structures of the IELTS test and it also gives you a test online to test yourself or to try to become familiar with IELTS.

Furthermore, it is about facilities or the place of test which is organised at the Landmark Hotel. It is near the BTS and it is easy for most of candidates to go in the Landmark and find the room.

My last point is about the examiner. I think most of the examiners, like staff as I said before, understand the stress of candidates and they will not penalise them for any anxiety or stress which the candidate shows to them because they understand and they will try to or aim to measure just their English ability, so that’s why I chose to take IELTS with British Council.

IELTS test can be used worldwide and the structure of the test and the contents make sure that you can survive in an international environment. So this convinces me to suggest to my friends to take IELTS.

Our professional

As the director of The Twinning Engineering Programmes (TEP) and the Thammasat English Programme of Engineering (TEPE), also as a full time lecturer of the Faculty of Engineering at Thammasat University for more than 13 years, I personally find that IELTS becomes significant and useful; as this high standard examination with widely recognised in terms of testing and scoring system focuses on the integration of both academic and professional English language.

The importance of IELTS can be found in both TEP and TEPE; students in TEP Programmes are all required to submit the test score for proceeding to either the University of Notthingham in UK or the University of New South Wales in Australia after fullfilling their first 2 years in Thammasat University in order to obtain "Double Degrees in Engineering". While, students in TEPE need to submit IELTS for graduating after registering with the Faculty of Engineering at Thammasat University for 4 years. Moreover, IELTS score is still helpful for both TEP and TEPE students to apply for jobs, scholarships, and to further their studies in the leading universities around the world as well. In addition to that, the British Council as an IELTS examination centre has been providing excellent service with special privileges such as free online exercise and even free scholarships. For me, I would say IELTS is the test of choice.

Our test candidates

I am now studying for my last year in the International Programme, Economics Faculty at Thammasat University. I am going to study a further Economics Programme in the US next year. I have submitted my application forms to several US universities. I decided to take the IELTS examination because presently there are a number of universities in the US which accept an IETLS score. Some US universities clearly mention that they prefer an IETLS score. Moreover, I realise that the Reading and Listening parts of IELTS are practical and understandable and will help me adapt to everyday life.

Mr Kanit Kaewiboonwanich

I first decided to take IETLS because I planned to pursue further study in the UK. However I changed to the US in the end. Taking IELTS was the right decision for me because I was able to submit an IELTS score to universities in the US as well as in the UK. I felt less stress because I did not have to take several examinations. I chose to register for the IELTS exam at the British Council because it is a big examination centre and has a good reputation. The British Council also provides good services and has friendly staff who can assist and give me useful information. Moreover, the British Council has many centres which make it very convenient for me.

Ms Penwadee Dumnua

I learnt from US university and British Council websites that universities in the US are now accepting IELTS. Moreover I knew from my friends and alumni who graduated abroad that the IELTS examination is of a high standard and is accepted by US Ivy League universities. I decided to sit the IELTS examination with the British Council because I am confident in British Council services and systems. In addition, IELTS examiners at the British Council are experienced and up to standard which make scores very reliable.

Ms Thanyaluk Benjamano Techawutthipun

I have got a Master’s degree in Strategic Management from Mahidol University. I am now planning to study a Mater-Doctorate degree either in Human Resources or Organization Development in the US. I decided to take the IELTS examination because I learnt that IELTS is accepted by many universities in the US. Personally, I prefer the IELTS exam particularly for the Speaking test during which I could communicate one to one with the Speaking test examiner. I was aware of the examiner’s facial and physical expressions while talking. It made me feel more confident and more able to answer the question.
