British Council Tanzania offers various programmes, which build lasting links between schools, institutions and universities of both countries. We encourage a closer partnership in education through activities like the Higher Education Links programme and the School Links programme.

Global school partnerships

We promote and support partnerships between schools in Tanzania and the UK. The School Links programme promotes the development of Tanzania educational institutions by contributing to the professional development of teaching staff, the curriculum and an exchange between students and teachers.

Higher education links (DelPHE)

The Higher Education Links programme aims to promote the development and co-operation between higher education institutions in the UK and in Tanzania. This partnership programme receives direct funding from the UK government’s Department for International Development (DFID).

Education in Tanzania

The structure of the formal education and training system in Tanzania constitutes 2 years of pre-primary education, 7 years of primary education, 4 years of junior secondary (ordinary level), 2 years of senior secondary (Advanced Level) and up to 3 or more years of tertiary education.
