Apply for awards that recognise your creative entrepreneurial spirit Deadlines for entries are April 30 and May 30, 2008
The British Council strongly believes in the role of young entrepreneurs in developing and supporting a creative economy in their country.
The Performing Arts and Visual Arts Entrepreneurs’ Awards recognise the role of creative entrepreneurs in building a society that supports and promotes cultural diversity. A strong and independent creative sector is an integral part of any democratic society.
The awards aim to celebrate and reward individuals who, in their careers and work, have demonstrated entrepreneurial and leadership ability, market awareness and understanding, originality of ideas, international outlook and the ability to network with the UK, and globally.
The deadline for entries for the Performing Art Entrepreneur Award is April 30, 2008 and the deadline for entries for the Visual Arts Entrepreneur Award is May 30, 2008.
Applicants for the awards must be aged between 25 and 35, have three years’ experience and still be working in the creative sector. They must also be entrepreneurial in either a commercial or public sector (or both), have competent English language skills, and have drive and abilities that demonstrate their potential to be a future leader.
Before entering the competition, please make sure you have downloaded and read our definitions of “performing arts” and “visual arts”. Please also ensure that you are eligible for the award by examining each of the criteria closely.
Successful finalists for these awards will take part in a tour of the United Kingdom with other participants from countries in Africa and Asia. Final judging will take place and the winner of each award will receive a cash prize.
Application forms can be found on the left of the page. If you are unable to download the definitions or application forms, please contact us.
Application forms must reach the British Council office by email or post by the deadline dates. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further interviews.
