Science museums and centres bring science to life, creating a space for learning and dialogue and allowing people to interact with science in a way that is both fun and engaging. The Science Museum, London Exhibition Road, South Kensington, London, SW7 2DD, England Tel: +44 (0)870 870 4868 Holds one the world's largest and most significant collections demonstrating the history and contemporary practice of science, technology, medicine and industry. The Museum welcomes about 1.6 million visitors each year and is one of the top ten tourist attractions in the UK. There is also an i-max 3-D cinema, which shows 3-D films relating to many different areas of science, from sharks to walking on the moon. The museum has 160 interactive exhibits, in four dynamic exhibition areas and a changing programme of temporary exhibitions and events.

These include captivating shows in the Science Theatre, fascinating tours of the universe in the Planetarium and a chance for visitors to experiment in the Laboratory and Discovery Room.

As well as hundreds of interactive exhibits, you can visit the IMAX 2-D and 3-D cinema and the Glasgow tower, the only building in the world capable of turning 360 degrees from the ground up and incredible views of Glasgow.

Eureka! Museum for Children Discovery Road, Halifax, West Yorkshire, HX1 2NE Tel: +44 (0)1422 330069 Based in Halifax, Eureka is the UK's only interactive science centre dedicated to children aged 0-11 years. There are more than 400 interactive exhibits and a full programme of events and activities.
Discovery Zone Science Oxford, 1-5 London Place, Oxford, OX4 1BD, Oxfordshire Tel: +44(0)1865 728953 A new science gallery located at Science Oxford, the scientific equivalent of an Arts centre. It features many interactive experiments and an ever-changing programme of themed activities. There is also an interactive trail around the streets of Oxford.

MOSI (The Museum of Science and Industry, Manchester) Liverpool Road, Castlefield, Manchester, M3 4FP Tel: +44 (0)161 832 2244 Situated in the oldest passenger railway buildings in the world, the museum tells the story of the history, science and industry of Manchester - the world's first industrial city. There is a wide range of exhibits, including Xperiment, an interactive science gallery; the Victorian sewer; and a replica of the 'Baby', the world’s first stored-program computer. Entry to the museum's permanent collections is free of charge.
