This course is for people over 17 want to improve their writing for the IELTS exam or improve their academic writing to help with their studies.

Course Structure

This 24 hour course is for people who already have a intermediate level of English or higher. All students take a placement test to ensure they have a high enough level of English.

Course Aims

During the highly interactive, practical course you will:

  • improve your academic writing skills through practice in brainstorming ideas, researching, planning, and writing essays.
  • learn appropriate essay, paragraph and sentence structure and how to use academic language.
  • develop your vocabulary related to a variety of academic topics.
  • regularly revise your written work through feedback and advice from your teacher.

IELTS preparation

These courses are for people who are over 17 and want to take the IELTS test for overseas study or emigration.

Course Structure

There are two levels of IELTS Preparation, intermediate and upper intermediate. Each level is taught in two 45 hour modules. All students take a placement test to ensure they go into the right level.

Course Aims

During the highly interactive, practical course you will:

  • develop the necessary exam techniques to maximise your score in all four parts of the IELTS exam.
  • receive feedback from teachers who have substantial knowledge of the IELTS exam to help you study and improve your performance.
  • do one full IELTS mock test.
  • be introduced to self-study techniques and materials to help you to continue your studies outside the classroom.
