Artists, curators, educators and students from Jordan, Syria and Britain are working together to get to know each other and to learn about each other's visual cultures.
Nahnou-Together is a partnership between the British Council, Tate Britain, Adham Ismail Centre, Damascus, the National Gallery of Jordan, Amman, Darat-al-Funun, Amman, and schools in Amman, and London. This is the third phase of the project and results in displays in each of the three participating cities. Phase One (represented on http://nahnou-together.org) involved young people from Damascus and London getting to know each other through art, and Phase Two involved a mutual training programme for arts and education professionals involved in the programme.
This phase involves a series of workshops trying to explore the cultural identities of the three countries and an exchange programme where young people will travel from the UK to Syria and Jordan and visa versa to join their counterparts to work together on interpreting the works of contemporary artists from all countries and experience what it is to be a Syrian, a Jordanian or a Brit.
