WHAT IS IELTS?
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the British alternative to the TOEFL. The IELTS test is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who want to study or work where English is used as the language of communication.

INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION
IELTS is recognised for course admission by universities in many countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the USA, and the UK. IELTS is increasingly recognised by many Swiss institutions, as well as required as proof of your language ability for immigration to Australia, New Zealand and Canada.

WHAT DOES THE TEST CONSIST OF?
The exam consists of four parts taken over the course of one day:

Listening: duration 30 minutes
Reading: duration one hour
Writing: two written tasks, one hour
Speaking: face-to-face interview, 15 minutes

TYPES OF TEST
You can choose between Academic or General Training modules of the test. Choose the Academic version if you want to go to university in an English speaking country; choose the General Training version if you are considering professional or vocational training, or if you wish to emigrate to Australia or New Zealand. Visit the IELTS global website for more information about the test. To make absolutely sure you chose the correct module, please contact the institution whom you are doing the test for.

CANCELLATIONS AND CHANGE OF DATE
Please note that the deadline for cancellations or a change of date is 5 weeks prior to the test date. If you cancel or change the date later than that, we will charge you the full fee.

RESULTS
One copy of the results will be sent out to you by priority mail on the 13th day after the test date. At your request we will also send the results to institutions at the same time, as most institutions insist on receiving results directly from us. A Test Report Form records overall performance and performance in the individual modules with a score range of 1-9 (ranging from absolute beginner to expert user).

We have recently introduced a new service which will allow you to have access to your results online by using the following link. You will be able to do this on the 13th day after your test after 3:00pm.
