Social development

We facilitate discussion of good governance and exchange of best practice in UK and Sudan. Through our activities, we aim to promote the UK as a valued partner in conducting reforms and promoting sustainable development. We work closely with the FCO on several of these projects.

What we offer

We have in-house expertise and have access to UK and international organisations working in social development. We have experience of supporting the social development aspects of work in different sectors, as well as managing projects and programmes focusing on social issues.

How we work

We work to develop mutual respect between stakeholders in Sudan in keeping with best development practice. We will involve project stakeholders in design, implementation and monitoring. We form genuine partnerships, and support learning as a two-way process.

We give access to UK reformist social traditions and current expertise. We draw on UK and global best practice, adapting our approaches to suit our partners' circumstances.

Much of our work involves facilitating links and networks among civil society organisations, central government bodies and institutions such as the media.

Activities

Social development cuts across all human development initiatives. We promote the best of UK values. Our activities include:

developing projects in partnerships with government
building tools for local development
we assest disadvantaged groups to become more involved with democracy.
