British Studies course materials focusing on aspects of class in Britain by using extracts from primary documents, including social, political and cultural commentaries and photographs.

Newspaper, magazine, television and radio texts are analysed to explore issues such as the representation of ethnicity, gender and national identity, relationships between the media and their audiences and the media's construction of 'reality'.

The first anthology of British Studies Now (1992 - 95) shows how the British Council became involved in British Studies. It contains 24 articles on language and culture, national identity, history, and interculturalism.

The second anthology of British Studies Now (1996 - 98) explores new themes such as language and social identity, geography, and contemporary arts. The section Taking a View, brings together fresh insights into central questions about the subject and there are documents from the Re-inventing Britain project, including the original manifesto by Homi K. Bhabha and an introduction given at the London conference by Stuart Hall.
