The
beginning
We began giving support to interdisciplinary
studies about the UK in 1990. Our aim was to facilitate an informed,
critical and comparative understanding of contemporary Britain in
a range of educational projects with key partners - both in Britain
and overseas. These range from conferences and publications to providing
support for developing courses
and materials.
A change for 2003
Our approach to British Studies has always been founded on the meeting
of cultures. For this reason we are re-positioning British Studies
within the wider field of Intercultural Studies which we are developing
as a resource for the British Council, its partners and customers.
Intercultural Studies will play a key role in our ongoing thinking
about cultural relations.
