Eshwary Mahendra took a course with us in August and September 2007 and got the grade she needed first time.
She talked to Alastair Bassett, the Branch Manager of the British Council Kandy, about her experience of taking the course.
Alastair: Why did you decide to take the IELTS exam?
Eshwary: Actually we want to migrate to Australia and if I want to work there I have to do the IELTS exam.
Alastair: You took a preparation course at the British Council Teaching Centre. Do you feel the course helped you?
Eshwary: Yes, a lot, because we were in a very comfortable environment with very friendly staff, and I was fortunate to have a good teacher, Alison, who was very methodical in her way of teaching. And out of class time we also had hours in the library for study. Actually the course was very helpful as we did mock testing and got all the materials and the books. The mock testing was particularly useful as you can find out your weaknesses. I had a problem with my writing and I was able to improve when I found out the type of mistakes I was making. It all helped me a lot to improve my skills.
Alastair: Thank you for taking the time to come and talk to us today.
