Kandy

young learners zone

As part of our Library we offer the Young Learners Zone (YLZ), a bright and comfortable area for children between the ages of five and fifteen.

The YLZ reflects the growing interest in the learning and teaching of English at an increasingly early age. It provides a range of materials to encourage children to read in English, and to help make it an enjoyable experience.

WHAT CAN YOU FIND IN THE YLZ?

A cosy corner with loads of cushions to lie and read your favourite books on, play interactive games and do online quizzes. The Young Learners Zone offers a great place for discovery through a variety of paper and electronic resources.

BOOKS
Find all the information you want for that tough homework project from the worlds best encyclopaedias! With over 10, 000 books in the Young Learners Zone, children can happily breeze through stories by new and familiar authors, many of which are not available elsewhere. We offer a variety of books across a broad range of topics, from simple-sentence picture books to popular novels and more in-depth books on 'how things work'.

VIDEOS AND CD-ROMS
We have videos purely for entertainment, as well as teaching aids for pre-school children. Through our CD-ROMs, your children can explore English through quizzes and games in a way that is educational and fun.

WHAT ELSE HAPPENS IN THE YOUNG LEARNERS ZONE?

We have an activity programme for members, which includes story telling, painting, singing, poetry and quizzes.

Your child can learn to make fantastic masks and puppets, listen to the newest versions of those old fairy tales and make new friends – and learn English at the same time!
