Your application should be signed by your parent or guardian, who thereby takes responsibility for all materials borrowed by you.
Extending time period of borrowed material You may extend the loan period of materials you borrow only once, on or before the due date, if they are not already reserved. Your request must be in writing, giving the due date, your membership number and the bar code (e.g. CB34355) number of the material borrowed. We cannot allow requests by telephone. You can make e-mail requests.
Loss of material You are responsible for all the material you borrow. You will be requested to pay the replacement cost of lost material. We will refund your payment only if you return the item within one month of the date of payment and pay the fine.
MEMBERSHIP CARD You must carry the membership card at all times when you visit the library. Membership is not transferable
RENEWAL OF MEMBERSHIP Membership is renewable within 3 months from the date of expiry. You must produce your current membership card, return any overdue items and settle any pending fines.
TRANSFER OF MEMBERSHIP Transfer of membership between our libraries in Colombo and Kandy can be arranged with prior permission from the Head Lending Services.
RESERVATIONS You may reserve any material already on loan except journals.
PHOTOCOPYING Library material can be photocopied subject to copyright restrictions
DVDs A range of favourite carton/film are screened every Saturday for your entertainment.
INTERNET ACCESS Free internet access is available for you for half an hour per day. Filtered sites are available for homework support and online quizzes. You can explore English through games in a way that is educational and fun.
ACTIVITY PROGRAMMES We have activity programmes for members which includes story telling, creative writing, reading games, poetry and quizzes, make new friends and learn English at the same time!
LIBRARY TOURS Tours of our Libraries can be arranged with the Head Lending Services by prior notice. Special tours are given to institutions. Non members are also accommodated prior to registration.
LOSS OF MATERIAL You will be asked to pay the replacement cost of lost / damaged material.
LOSS OF MEMBERSHIP CARD This must be reported immediately, and you may purchase a replacement for the lost card.
PERSONAL PROPERTY You may leave all personal items at the baggage counter at your own risk. You are only permitted to bring in blank sheets of paper.
CANCELLATION OF MEMBERSHIP If library privileges have been misused we reserve the right to cancel your membership at our discretion.
PAYMENTS All cash transactions close at 1730.
