British Council Sri Lanka
Be Successful, be inspired
We know that young Sri Lankans want to be both successful and inspired. So everything we do is geared to helping you fulfil these aspirations. Whether you need help with your academic or professional career or whether you are just curious about what the wider world and the UK in particular, has to offer you, why not make the British Council your starting point! We're here to help.
Beyond books
Books are at the heart of what we have to offer you but we're not just another library. We have spent a lot of time talking to people like you in order to redefine what a library should be! Each centre has its own programme of events and workshops, designed to meet your needs. So whether you want to explore the creative side of your personality, or you wish to develop academically or professionally, or you'd like to improve your English, or take an exam to find out what a UK education can help you achieve, we are here to help you achieve your goals.
Fantastic online resources
Our partnership with E-brary means that we have more than 38,000 e-books added to our already extensive collection. Members can access these books from the comfort of their own homes and because the books are available electronically, this means no more waiting for a book to be returned by another member before you can borrow it. So you can enjoy the entire online collection 24/7.
Great Value for Money
Membership of the British Council represents great value for money. Where else can you improve your prospects and enrich your life for as little as 10 rupees a day? Membership also gives you priority access to various British Council events and ensures that you are kept up to date with all the latest developments! It is not so much a question of whether you can afford to belong but rather can you afford not to?
Belong
The British Council is a great place to meet like minded people with similar interests and in this day and age the importance of networks cannot be under-estimated. Belonging to the British Council can give you that competitive edge which you can only gain from being a part of the British Council family.
