	Register for an IELTS course

- In Colombo, to register for the IELTS Preparation Course or the IELTS Express Course, visit our Teaching Centre in Colombo between 0800 and 1900 from Monday to Sunday.

- In Kandy, to register for the IELTS Express Course, visit our Teaching Centre in Kandy between 0900 and 1600 from Tuesday to Saturday.


		Bring your identification – either the passport or the National Identity Card – and Rs.800/- placement test fee (non-refundable). You will get the date and time of your placement test (on a first-come-first-served basis).


		Take the placement test. This is a written test of about 30 minutes with an interview by a British Council teacher to test your spoken English. This tells you what course is best for you based on your level of English and the IELTS band you need.

Register. Pay the course fees, then you will get a receipt and your class schedule. To reserve a place on the course, you must pay the full amount. We recommend that you come prepared to register the same day as your placement test, as places are limited and courses often fill up quickly. However, if you want to wait, your placement test results will remain valid for the next three terms (seven-and-a-half months) and you may register at a later date.

To register for your course you will need:

			the course fee
			your placement test fee receipt


		Buy your course book before the first lesson from CG Associates bookshop at the British Council Colombo or from the CG Associates agent at the British Council Kandy during the first week of term.

Please note:

the IELTS course is not an English course but an exam preparation course
you must already have the level of English you need, to pass the exam
the course develops exam technique to help to improve your score
you should find out in advance the IELTS score you need according to the entry requirements for overseas study and emigration before you consider taking the course
students taking the General Training paper for emigration normally need a minimum intermediate level of English
students taking the Academic paper for overseas higher studies normally need an upper intermediate level of English
if your English level is below this, you won’t be able to register for the course.
