Have you just finished your A-levels? Are you planning to take an academic or professional course in English? Are you a university student currently studying in English?

If so, English for Further Studies (EFS) is the course for you. A 50-hour course designed for post A-level, university or college students, EFS will help you develop the skills you need for your current and future academic studies.

WHAT WILL I LEARN ON THE COURSE?
The course uses materials on a range of thought provoking topics to help you develop the skills required for academic or professional study. You will develop and practise strategies and techniques to improve your reading, writing and vocabulary learning skills.

You will improve your ability to:

WRITING READING VOCABULARY LEARNING
plan, organise and link ideas when writing use reading strategies to quickly understand and find information develop and practise strategies to record, organise and remember new vocabulary
use paragraphs and punctuation effectively make and organise notes on academic texts cope with difficult words in academic texts
use appropriate language in formal writing

use the internet for research

use a dictionary effectively to help you understand and use new vocabulary
use texts as models to improve your writing analyse charts and data
summarise the main points of an academic text

WHAT WILL I GET OUT OF THE COURSE?
You will use the skills and strategies that you develop on the course to write three pieces of academic writing which your teacher will evaluate and give you detailed feedback on.

During one-to-one tutorials in the middle and at the end of the course, your teacher will discuss your progress, help you identify your current strengths and weaknesses and give you practical suggestions about how you can improve.

On successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a British Council certificate in English for Further Studies.

The course costs Rs 33,300 and includes:

WHAT LEVEL OF ENGLISH DO I NEED, TO ENROL ON THE COURSE?
The course is open to students at our Pre-Intermediate 1, Pre-Intermediate 2 and Pre-Intermediate 3 General English levels.
