The Royal College of Physicians aims to ensure high quality care for patients by improving standards and influencing policy and practice in modern medicine. It sets standards for clinical practice, conducts examinations, defines and monitors education and training programmes for physicians, supports doctors in their practice of medicine, and advises the Government, public and the profession on healthcare issues.
The MRCP (UK) Examination consists of three parts. In the UK it is usually taken during the period of general professional training in medicine which follows registration with the General Medical Council of the United Kingdom, and normally lasts at least two years. The MRCP (UK) Diploma does not, therefore, confer specialist status: in the UK it is recognised as an entry qualification for higher specialist training.
For more information visit the Royal College of Physicians website.

The BioMedical Admissions Test (BMAT) is a subject-specific admissions test taken by applicants to certain medicine, veterinary medicine and related courses. The BMAT is owned and administered by Cambridge Assessment, the new identity for UCLES, one of the world’s largest assessment agencies.
The examination is held once a year in November.
