KET and PET: Computer-based exams

Candidates can choose to take the computer-based versions of the KET and PET tests: CBKET and CBPET. The computer-based tests are the same as the paper and pen tests and lead to the same internationally recognised Cambridge ESOL certificate - only the method of completing the test is different.

RESULTS ISSUED

Results of the computer-based KET examination held on February 2013 are now released and result sheets have been posted. Find out more about the statement of results.

CERTIFICATES ISSUED - KET COMPUTER-BASED EXAM
Certificates of the KET computer-based exam session held in February 2013 are now available for collection. Please collect your certificate from our Examinations Services counter.

PLEASE NOTE:

all closing dates are provisional and subject to amendments
a limited number of seats are available, on a first-come, first-served basis
if the minimum number of candidates (exam board requirement), which is 5, is not met by the registration closing date of the computer-based exam, the exam will be cancelled and a full refund will be granted to the candidates who had paid their exam fee.

HOW CAN I REGISTER?

to set up a computer-based exam, 5 candidates are required as a minimum
submit your interest on or before the 'submission of interest closing date' respective to your exam date, as stated in the table above
you will be informed of the test date availability confirmation at least 10 days prior to the test date

Once the test session availability is confirmed:

download and complete the application form
download the Information Sheet for Candidates for reference
register by submitting the completed entry form in person or post on or before the registration closing date relevant to your test date. Please submit the following along with the entry form:
    - two recent passport-size photographs
    - 3 self addressed envelopes.
fees can be paid in cash, by cheque or bank draft (SL Rupees) drawn in favour of 'British Council'. You can also make a bank transfer to the following account (please bring or post the receipt with your application):
    - Bank name: HSBC
    - Account name: British Council Sri Lanka
    - Account number: 001-002377-002
    - Message: MS- (your full name)
Credit cards are accepted (Visa/Master/Amex)
You will receive your statement of entry 5 days prior to the test date
Please contact us if you didn't receive your statement of entry 4 days prior to the test date

TEST DAY PHOTOGRAPHY
Cambridge ESOL is committed to ensuring that Cambridge English exams are recognised by organisations as one of the most valuable and secure English language qualifications available. Therefore it is a requirement that candidates are photographed on the day of the exam.

WHEN AND HOW DO I GET MY RESULTS AND THE CERTIFICATE?
Results are issued on the 15th day from the written test date and the results sheets will be sent to you via post.

Certificates for successful CB test candidates are expected to be issued approximately 4-5weeks after the results release date. Candidates will be informed in writing for the collection of certificates.

GRADING
The final grade is an aggregate of the marks achieved in each of the three papers: Reading and Writing, Listening, Speaking. There is no minimum pass mark for each individual paper. You will be awarded the grading 'Pass with Distinction' if you achieve a score of 90 or above; this will also award you level B1 (for KET) and level B2 (for PET) in the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) assessment.

CANDIDATES WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
In co-operation with Cambridge ESOL, we provide a Special Arrangements Service for candidates with hearing, speech, visual and kinetic difficulties, as well as for candidates with learning difficulties such as dyslexia. We also make special arrangements for candidates who have sustained accident-related injuries, such as a broken arm, prior to the day of the exam. REFUND POLICY
Refunds are only granted under medical grounds. Requests must be made within seven days after the scheduled test date. Following documents are to be submitted for the processing of the refund

Completed Local Refund Claim Form
A Medical Certificate from recognised western medical practitioner or a hospital
Statement of Entry
Receipt issued by British Council for the examination fees paid

Please note that photocopies of the above documentation will not be accepted. British Council will retain Rs. 3,000/- from the total examination fee paid as an administration fee. Transfer of fees to a future examination session is not allowed.
