IELTS BAND SCALE
There is no pass or fail mark. Scores are given on an Overall Band Score of one to nine.

Different institutions have their own entrance requirements and may require minimum scores in particular modules. In general, universities request an Overall Band Score of 6.0 or 6.5 for entrance to academic courses. You are advised to check the score required with the particular institution to which you are applying.

TEST REPORT

Scores are recorded on an official Test Report Form, showing overall ability, as well as performance in listening, reading, writing and speaking
We can send your results direct to universities or other educational institutions for FREE – this is up to a maximum of five (5) copies and you must include the relevant addresses on your application form at the time of submission
You will get one copy of your results for yourself. The original copy will be sent to you by courier / registered post. We cannot issue a replacement
Additional original copies can only be sent to receiving institutions (i.e. universities, immigration officers, etc.). A small administrative fee may be charged. The application form for additional TRFs is available for downloading
Do not send your own copy of the results to any colleges, universities, embassies etc. These institutions will only accept results sent by the British Council
The IELTS partners suggest that IELTS scores are valid for 2 years. Second language learning research shows that unless learners make an effort to keep up their language skills, you can quickly forget how to speak or understand it. For this reason, Test Report Forms will not be issued for tests taken more than two years ago.  Nor can the IELTS partners cannot provide any letters or references endorsing a candidate’s level of English. However, if candidates can provide evidence that they have actively maintained or tried to improve their English language proficiency since doing the test, receiving organisations have the discretion to accept the IELTS score after any amount of time
If you wish to request a re-mark of the results must complete an IELTS Enquiry on Remarks form and forward along with their original Test Report Form and payment of £ 60 to the IELTS Administrator at your original test centre. All enquiries must be made within 6 weeks of the test date. If your mark increases you will receive a full refund
