The British Council Sri Lanka conducts Edexcel International GCSE and GCE A-level twice a year in January and May/June.

EXAM DATES -  2013

International GCSE 6 May to 13 June
A-level and AS-level 6 May to 25 June


Before completing the application form YOU ARE STRONGLY RECOMMENDED TO READ THE TIMETABLE for unit, option and subject availability. For further details and instructions on subject related matters please refer to the relevant syllabus/specifications on Edexcel International website www.edexcel.com. We will not be responsible for any errors made in your application due to your failing to follow the subject specific instructions and guidelines.

Please also note that no late applications will be accepted for International GCSE and GCE AS/AL Art and Design, International GCSE ICT, GCE Applied ICT subjects and International GCSE and GCE speaking test options/units.

If you are planning to submit applications for two or three exam types eg; International GCSE and A-level or A-level and AS/A2 level, you need to hand over all completed applications for each qualification at the same time on one particular day.

IMPORTANT

if you are applying for IGCSE and another qualification the applications must be handed over to us on the same day of International GCSE submission
All subjects with assessment of coursework option can be taken only by the school candidates. These subjects are not offered to private candidates

LATE ENTRIES
If you fail to submit your application before the deadlines set by the British Council you will be subjected to a Late Entry Fee.

Official Late entry deadlines are:

** Please also note that no late applications will be accepted for International GCSE and GCE AS/AL Art & Design, International GCSE ICT, GCE Applied ICT subjects and International GCSE and GCE speaking test options/units.

HANDING OVER THE ENTRY FORM AND IDENTIFICATION
Please submit your application form with the following items:

5 self addressed envelopes (9”x 4”) for posting your entry form and results sheet. Please write your name and address clearly in block capitals on the right hand side of the envelope
2 passport-size photographs
a valid proof of identity (NIC, Passport or Postal ID)

STATEMENT OF ENTRY AND TIMETABLES
The statement of entry for International GCSE and GCE AS and A-LEVEL should reach you by 10 April 2013. If they do not reach you by this date please contact British Council Examinations Services on (011) 4521521 or email info.lk@britishcouncil.org.

If there is an error in your name or date of birth on your statement of entry, you should inform us as soon as you receive your statement of entry. Otherwise, a fee of Rs 9,000/- will be payable for any amendment requested on the certificate.

APPLICATION WITHDRAWAL PERIODS
Applications are considered for refunding as follows:

please note that it will take approximately three months from the local closing date to process the refunds
International GCSE & GCE AS-level and A-level
Deadline 10 April 2013
Stage 2 This service is available only during the exam period. Refunds will be given on medical grounds when applied for with supporting evidence (eg, doctor’s note). Please note that all medical refunds should be approved by Edexcel International. Upon the approval, British Council will issue the refund, less an administrative fee of Rs.3,000/-.

Processing period: please note that it will take approximately four months from the local closing date to process approved refunds

SUBMISSION OF COURSE WORK
All subjects with assessment of coursework option can be taken only by the school candidates. These subjects are not offered to private candidates.

Subjects with coursework option: GCE AS/AL Art and Design, Drama and Theatre Studies, English Language, English Language and Literature, English Literature, History, Music and Applied ICT.

Material for candidates to study in preparation for certain tests and assessments will be posted on the website www.edexcel.com on following dates:

International GCSE preparatory material:
Fine Art 4FA0/01 Question papers and instructions for Superintendent: 01 February 2013. The date of the 10 hour test can be at any time after the six week perparatory period.British Council will inform the test dates

GCE A-level and AS-level preparatory material:

Music Technology unit 6MT01 stimulus material and Music 6MU02 Composition Briefs should have been released to candidates in September 2012.
Music 6MU05 section A- the composition Briefs will be published on the Edexcel website in September 2011.Section B – the Technical Studies will published only in hard copy format. This document will be released on 1 April 2013. This document will contain the Technical Studies and the Composition Briefs
Biology 6BI05 - the pre-release scientific article should be issued to candidates a minimum one month before the examination date of Monday 17 June 2013
Geography 6GE03 synoptic resources and 6GE04 research focus materials for each option will be posted on the website 03 May 2013
Art & Design 6AD02 & 6AD04 released on the website on the 1 Febraury 2013


International GCSE & GCE speaking tests:

•Speaking test for 4ES0/03 English as a Second Language and Modern Foreign Languages i e. 4FR0/03 French , 4 GN0/03 German will be informed by the British Council in April 2013
•Speaking test for GCE French, German will take place during Wednesday 4 April and Tuesday 15 May 2013

International GCSE ICT.Practical tests
4 IT0/02 ICT practical examinations window is from Monday 13 May to Friday17 May 2013

GCE Applied ICT:
Important: this subject is available ONLY for school candidates. Please note that Applied GCE ICT is not available to private candidates as there is compulsory coursework.

AS-level 6951, 6952, 6958, 6960, 6961, 6962 Coursework Submission
26 April 2013
: Deadline for receipt at the British Council of project work. Please submit two sets of CDs for each unit. Please note that you need to include CAS form and e-record sheet (9751 - 9752 / 8751 - 8752) in each unit.
16 April 2013 : Applied GCE ICT 6953 data files and 6953, 6957, 6959 Pre-release scenario will b available on the Edexcel website
AS-level Applied ICT 6953 Computer-based Exam
The designated five day window for GCE ICT unit 6953 ‘The Knowledge Worker’ is Monday 20 May to Friday 24 May 2013.. Duration of this examination is 2 hours and  30 minutes and must be taken in one sitting during the designated five day window.
A2-level Applied GCE 6957 Computer-based Exam
GCE Applied ICT unit 6957, Using Database Software, and GCE Applied ICT Unit 6959, Communications and Networks, are 10 hours in duration, with the candidates performing specific tasks. The designated window for these units is between Monday 06 May to Friday 24 May 2013

GCE AS/A2 Cash-in
Requests for subject awards/ subject grade (certificate). To be eligible for the specification cash-in codes (award claims), candidates must be entered for, or have banked under their UCI, the units listed under each cash-in code.

If you are completing AS or A2 qualifications please tick the correct syllabus specification in the application to obtain the overall subject grading in August 2013 and certificate in November 2013.  
If you are planning to cash-in when the results are released in August, late cash in fee of Rs.1500/- will be charged for each syllabus specification plus Rs.1000/- per candidate fee.
Candidates also can apply for cash-ins only for GCE 2008 specification subjects on the application form provided that they have sat all the necessary units in the previous exam series.
