Overseas Research Students Awards

Are you a postgraduate students undertaking full-time study? Are you registered as a research students at any of the following institutions?

British higher education institution funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE)
the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council (SHEFC
the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW)
the Department of Education for Northern Ireland (DENI),

Overseas Research Students Awards Scheme (ORSAS) can help you with your tuition fees.

What is the Overseas Research Students Awards Scheme ?

The Scheme is a scholarship that enables students to meet the difference between the home and overseas level of tuition fees only, and do not cover maintenance costs. They are initially made for one year but can be continued for a second or third year, subject to the satisfactory progress made by you. The scheme is funded by  Department for Education and Skills (DfES).

How do I apply?

You will then need to apply for this scheme through the British higher education institution once they  have accepted you or provisionally accepted you, for their course.
