Aspiring writers: Do you dream of being published?
A workshop by Sandra Jensen presented by the British Council

During this workshop Sandra Jensen will help you evaluate whether you are actually ready to send your work out for potential publication - many novice writers have their confidence crushed by embarking too early on the ‘business’ side of writing. Sandra will also discuss the generalities and specifics of publication, in particular how to maximize your chances of breaking into the prestigious literary journal market. Literary journals are an excellent ‘testing ground’ for novice writers, and publishing references in these magazines will increase your profile and help get your foot into a literary agent’s door.

Among the topics covered will be: ensuring you are ready for publication; finding a ‘fit’ for your work; preparing and correctly formatting your submission; writing effective cover letters; tracking submissions. You will also learn how to keep rejections in perspective.

Sandra Jensen has a publishing record of over 20 short story / fiction publications in literary magazines and journals (print, online and for audio and iPod in the US, UK, Ireland, Canada and New Zealand). In 2010 she was awarded a professional writer's grant from the Canada Council for the Arts to work on her first novel, which is set in Sri Lanka.

Sandra leads “Diving Deeper” writing retreats in Europe and North America and online at www.divingdeeper.net. She was born in South Africa, is a dual UK/Canadian citizen and currently lives in Ireland. For more information: www.sandrajensen.net
