COLOMBOSCOPE 2013
A Festival of Literature, Film, Art, Music & Dance

Colombo Scope 2013, curated by Ashok Ferrey, is organised by the Goethe Institut and British Council in partnership with Standard Chartered the title sponsor.

This year's theme is 'IDENTITIES'. The festival is a mix of discussions, performances, free and ticketed events across different art forms. The festival will open with the announcement of the Gratiaen short list.

An exhibition of artworks curated by Annoushka Hempel in collaboration with the Colombo Art Biennale and Hempel Galleries.
Film shows curated by Anoma Rajakaruna in conjunction with Agenda 14.
Book launches and readings by authors.

UK WRITERS

ANJALI JOSEPH

Anjali Joseph was born in Bombay. She read English at Trinity College, Cambridge, and has taught English at the Sorbonne. She has written for the Times of India in Bombay and been Commissioning Editor at ELLE (India). She graduated from an MA in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia in 2008. Her first novel, Saraswati Park, was published by 4th Estate in 2010 and won the Betty Trask Prize, the Desmond Elliott Prize, and the Vodafone Crossword Book Award for Fiction in India. Another Country, her second novel, was published in June last year and was longlisted for the Man Asian Literary Prize.



SEAN BORODALE

Sean Borodale works as a poet and artist, making scriptive and documentary poems written on location; this derives from his process of writing and walking for works such as Notes for an Atlas (Isinglass 2003) and Walking to Paradise (1999). Bee Journal is his first collection of poetry. He lives in Somerset.

Tickets are now available at the British Council Library Help Desk from Tuesday to Saturday 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. and on Sundays from 9.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
