The Book Buzz literary series was initiated with the objective of giving a boost to the literary activities we conduct. Carried out as part of our Animating Literature programme, it gives ‘young’ writers the opportunity of being read and heard by a larger and wider audience while also giving an opportunity for established writers to reach a new and wider audience. All artists featured in the Book Buzz series are members of the writers' website www.writeclique.net
The first Book Buzz event took place at the British Council in May 2005 and since then has showcased a variety of British and Sri Lankan writing in English, giving an opportunity to Colombo and Kandy audiences to get exposed to a diverse selection of creative works. From UK Performance Poets, to Gratiaen Award winners to contemporary writers and even professionals engaged in creative writing; have all been featured in our Book Buzz series.
A comment made by a customer at one Book Buzz event reflects our intention for this series … “this literary series promotes great interaction among many with various ideas” whereby we will always strive to present writing that is contemporary and creative in both look and feel!
