The British Council’s Valencia language centre offers a wide range of classes for young learners from 5 to 17. There are courses for all levels, designed so that students can progress from beginner right up to Cambridge Proficiency level. At some levels you can prepare for a Cambridge Exam, such as First Certificate for Schools, Advanced and Proficiency.

Our courses are structured by age and ability, allowing students to progress from beginner to advanced with young learners of roughly the same age.

  • Primary (5 - 10)
  • Junior (11 - 14)
  • Senior (15 - 17)

In the classroom

All of our English courses help students develop skills in:

  • Speaking
  • Listening
  • Writing
  • Reading

Our approach is lively and modern - our exercises are built around real-life examples designed to bring vocabulary and grammar to life. Our young learners get involved in a wide variety of classroom activities, supported by the latest technology - all our classrooms have interactive whiteboards.

We’ll challenge them, but give them the support they need - you’ll be surprised at how their confidence and independence will grow.

Individual support

We use continuous evaluation - students receive a progress report each term.  And we make sure that parents are fully involved in learning outside the classroom and at our parent-teacher meetings, which we hold twice a year.

Students also have an individual counselling session with their teacher.

We support learning outside the classroom with our well-stocked library, self-study resources and online portal. Learn more about learning support.

Exam preparation

Our classes help learners prepare for a wide variety of exams such as

  • Young Learner Tests: Starters, Movers, Flyers
  • Cambridge First Certificate in EnglishFCE
  • Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English - CAE
  • Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English - CPE

Making learning fun

Our young learners tell us they enjoy studying. Our classes are lively, and they’ll soon be chatting - in English - with fellow students, and getting involved in class activities. See what our students and their parents have to say about learning with us.
