We offer high quality English courses for children and teenagers in modern, well equipped classrooms. Our teachers are experienced and well-qualified. As well as general English courses, you can choose from Cambridge English exam preparation courses and a wide variety of skills courses.
We want your child to be motivated by and enjoy their classes and we believe that language learning is more effective when: students interact and participate actively in English; students enjoy classes; classes encourage independent learning and student autonomy; students get involved and strive to progress both in the classroom and beyond.
English courses for young learners
The British Council’s Madrid Young Learners’ language centre offers a wide range of classes for young learners from 5 to 18.
There are courses for all levels, designed so that students can progress from beginner right up to Cambridge Proficiency level. At some levels you can prepare for a Cambridge Exam, such as First Certificate, Advanced and Proficiency. All classes feature the British Council’s comprehensive learning support, which includes a well-stocked library and reading circle.
Students can come to class once or twice a week and we have a variety of timetables to fit in with their lives – and yours!
Summer courses
We have a wide range of courses during the summer months for children and teenagers. In July, August or September students aged 13 to 18 can take one of our 100 hour intensive general English courses, a great opportunity to complete a full level in one month.
We also offer 25 hour Skills and Booster courses in June, July, August and September. Skills courses focus on specific language areas such as speaking, listening or writing whereas our Exam Booster courses help preparestudents for Cambridge English First or Advanced exams in July, August or September.
Which course is right for you?
To make sure your course is at the right level for you, you’ll need to take a ‘level test’, which assesses your spoken and written English. The test takes an hour at most. You have to do the test if:
- you’ve not studied with us before or
- you haven’t done any study for at least six months.
If you have passed the Cambridge First (FCE), Advanced (CAE) or Proficiency (CPE) in the last year, you don't need to take the level test, but please bring your certificate when you come to register.
