British sound artists Philip Jeck and Vicki Bennett (People Like Us) form part of the line up Arte Oído in CaixaForumMadrid, a programme of sound art and experimental music.
Since 1992, Vicki Bennett has constructed an extensive body of audiovisual work through the records, multimedia projects, radio programmes and more that she has created through People Like Us.
Philip Jeck has for decades been one of the most prestigious sound artists on the scene. His work since the 1980s has been particularly centred around the use of old record players and vinyl combined with electronic elements. His brilliant career is characterised by the creation of absorbing sound architecture filled with new textures. Apart from his catalogue of records, installations, Jeck has also collaborated assiduously with dance and theatre companies.
On 18 May (Friday), People Like Us will present their new live audiovisual concert entitled The Magical Misery Tour, which premiered inLondon last September.
On 19 May (Saturday) Vicki Bennet will give a conference based on her creative work and its very special audiovisual remix technique using old films and recordings manipulated and recontextualised. That same night Philip Jeck will give a concert as part of the Arte Oído programme.
