The exhibition ABISMOS focuses on the works of 4 contemporary artists who use pre-existent images, whether they be icons of the history of art, CCTV images or illustrations from tourist brochures. These are then transformed, reproduced and reformed in such a way as to reveal their hidden discourse or to provide a critical vision of some of the ideas underpinning the art world and the consumption of images.

From the UK Sheena Macrae bases her work on the moving image. She takes as a starting point for her videos and installations classic films like Gone with the Wind or 2001 Space Odyssey and famous TV Series like Dallas. Macrae reforms these images, sometimes switching the order in which they appear when screened, compressing them or converting the film into a series of bands.

The exhibition is closed by Henna Nadeem whose work offers an individual take on multiculturalism in the UK through the reproduction of photographs taken from a popular 1930s book, The Picture Book of England, reprinted in colour in the 1970s.
