The Big Wild Read has been a huge success again in Bilbao. This year more than 150 children have completed it, reading six books in English. Two boys from Infant 3 completed the challenge (well done Xabier! Well done Inigo!) as well as many more from Primary and Junior classes.
The theme of the read was the environment and for each book that was read and accompanied by a review a tree will be planted in the UK. The children also received a scratch and sniff card for each book they read and these cards kept them motivated to finish the challenge and also helped them learn a little bit about the environment and how we can look after it.
Once the children had completed the challenge they were invited to a celebration along with their parents and brothers and sisters, where they were presented with a certificate and medal. After the presentation ceremony they then played some party games in English in which they impressed their parents with their great English! To finish the celebration a small buffet was provided. Five parties have been held this year.
Some children wrote and illustrated their book reviews beautifully and special prizes were presented to these children. Twelve year old Adrian wrote about the books in his life and the benefits of reading. Do have a look at Adrian’s stimulating article. Keep up the great work Adrian!!
