Placement information: This is an exam technique seminar - the language level of the participants is not crucial since most of the seminar is presenting information and giving clues as to how to improve performance on the exam task types to maximise the mark they get.  The seminar is not aimed at a particular language level and therefore students are not asked for a particular level to join the seminar.  However, they should be sure that they can follow the seminar in English.  ( i.e. they should be a reasonable intermediate level at a minimum)

Part One

Reading and Writing

Part Two

Listening and Speaking

IELTS Examination Technique Seminars offer you:

  • A comprehensive overview of the parts of the IELTS examination
  • Guidance about how to approach each part to help you make the most of your English.
  • Clear suggestions for further practice and preparation.

Seminar Contents

After a brief introduction to the whole exam, each skill is dealt with in turn.  This allows time to give a clear description of each of the tasks and pointers for approaching each part.  Writing and speaking are given slightly more time than the listening and reading because the task types may be less familiar. The last 20 minutes of the morning is devoted to a demonstration of a “mock” IELTS Speaking exam.
