Poetry Space
La Central MNCARS, Madrid. October 2007 to June 2008

Do you enjoy reading poetry in English?
Would you like to take part in a new poetry discussion group in Madrid?

What?
Poetry Space is a new reader group in Madrid for contemporary British poetry organised by the British Council and La Central bookshop at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (MNCARS). The group meets once a month to discuss the poems with other members and the facilitator. It is hoped that the group will benefit from visits from some of the poets whose work has been read. Participation is free.

When?
Poetry Space sessions are on the first Thursday of every month from October 2008 to June 2009. The first meeting is on 2 October.
Meetings take place at 19.00 h and last approximately one hour.

Where?
The meetings are held in La Central MNCARS bookshop, 2ª Planta, Ronda de Atocha, 2, 28012 Madrid Teléfono: 91 787 8782 www.lacentral.com. Access to the bookshop is through the Jean Nouvel extension to the museum.

Who?
Poetry Space is open to all, although a minimum level equivalent to post First Certificate in English (FCE) is required as discussions are conducted entirely in English. As places are limited, membership of the group is at the discretion of the facilitator, Daniel Brint of the British Council.

Books
Books for Poetry Space can be purchased through La Central. Group members will be issued with a card which can be used to obtain discounts in any La Central bookshop.
It is a condition of membership that members purchase the set text:

The Making of a Poem: A Norton Anthology of Poetic Forms, Mark Strand (Editor), Eavan Boland (Editor)

How?
To become a member of the discussion group just write to Daniel Brint at bcpoetryspace@yahoo.es in English explaining why you would like to join the group and what your level of English is. It is not possible to attend Poetry Space without registering first as a member.

See the list of poems read by the group in 2007 here.
