Poetry Space
La Central MNCARS, Madrid. October 2009 to June 2010

Do you enjoy reading poetry in English?
Would you like to take part in a poetry discussion group in Madrid?

What?
Poetry Space is a free monthly activity run by the British Council in partnership with La Central del Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (MNCARS). Meetings follow an open discussion format.

This year, Poetry Space will look at the diverse and dynamic work of 25 contemporary British poets. Poets range from established to emerging writers, including James Fenton, Carol Ann Duffy, Alice Oswald, Paul Farley, Sujata Bhatt, Lavinia Greenlaw, Robin Robertson and Glyn Maxwell. Poets of every age should be considered in relation to the literary traditions they inherit, develop or subvert and we will also be considering these writers in the wider context of British poetry.

Who?
Poetry Space is open to all and it is not necessary to have any specialist knowledge of poetry or literature to join the group although it is important to have a good level of English as readings and discussions are in English.

When?
Poetry Space sessions are on the first Thursday of every month from 1 October 2009 to 3 June 2010
Meetings take place at 19.00 h and last approximately one hour.

Where?
Meetings are held in La Central MNCARS bookshop, 2ª Planta, Ronda de Atocha, 2, 28012 Madrid Teléfono: 91 787 8782 www.lacentral.com. Access to the bookshop is through the Jean Nouvel extension to the museum.
