Festival de Cine Europeo de Sevilla
From 6 to 14 November

British cinema is celebrated at the Seville Film Festival supported by the British Council. 44 Inch Chest by Malcolm Venville, Fish Tank by Andrea Arnold, In the Loop by Armanda Ianucci and Xiaolu Guo’s She, A Chinese all compete in the official section as well as Ken Loach’s Looking for Eric which competes for a European Film Academy award.

In addition, Isabel Davis UK Film Council’s Head of International Coproduction Strategy and Amanda Nevill, director of the British Film Institute will take part in the Industry Forum alongside other prominent British film industry professionals.

The British film industry will also be fêted at the Noche Británica gala and in the following sections dedicated to British Film:

Jeremy Thomas Classics Selection
The celebrated producer will select ten all-time classic British films. Jeremy Thomas’s Recorded Picture Company has produced more than forty films, including Bernardo Bertolucci’s nine-time Academy Award winner The Last Emperor, and working with film greats such as David Cronenberg, Nic Roeg, Stephen Frears, Bernardo Bertolucci, Terry Gilliam and Takeshi Kitano, amongst others.

Cult Cinema: Nicholas Roeg
Nicholas Roeg is one of the world cinema’s most influential directors. His break-through techniques in storytelling have attracted many imitators through cult films like Don’t Look Now, and The Man Who Fell To Earth. Roeg began his career as a cinematographer on films such as Truffaut’s Fahrenheit 451, John Schlesinger’s Far From The Madding Crowd, and Richard Lester’s Petulia. Among his other films are Performance, Walkabout, Bad Timing, Insignificance, The Witches, and an experimental sound film with Claudia Schiffer, which had a special screening at the Venice Film Festival.

British Film Institute Treasures
The BFI will present eight titles from the legendary British General Post Office films produced in the 1930s as well as several titles by Jeff Keen, one of the most prolific directors in British experimental cinema.
