The British Council School Big Band has been in existence for nearly 20 years, and in the past 10 has been directed by Kevin Robb. The current formation is the made up of the following young musicians: 7 saxophones (alto, tenor and baritone), 4 trumpets, 2 flutes, guitar, bass, piano, drums, 2 singers
The group has made numerous appearances at clubs such as Calle 54 or Clamores, and performed at the British Ambassador´s residence, the Residencia de Estudiantes, the ECIS Conference, the Dia Europeo in Puerta de Sol (featured on Telemadrid), at the Centro Cultural de la Villa as part of the Madrid Jazz Festival, and many other venues. The repertoire of the ensemble features classic big band jazz numbers, latin jazz pieces, jazz-rock charts and versions of funk or soul tunes.
Free entry. The concert last 1 h 15 minutes.
Light refreshments will be served.
On the same day the British Council School choir will participate in the marathon of school and conservatory orquestras at 16:15 h in the Templete del Retiro, Plaza del Maestro Villa s/n. The marathon is held from 12.00 h to 24.00 h.
