The EU Lifelong Learning Programme

The EU Socrates programme has now finished its second phase (2000 - 2006) and has been replaced by the EU Lifelong Learning Programme, which consists of four main actions; Comenius; Leonardo; Grundtvig; and Erasmus, plus transversal actions. The British Council manages the Comenius and Erasmus actions. The Leonardo, Grundtvig and Transversal actions are now managed by Ecotec.

Erasmus - Higher Education
Erasmus is the European Community programme for higher education, encouraging cooperation between institutions and boosting staff and student mobility for work and study.

Leonardo - Vocational training
Leonardo allows institutions offering vocational training to provide opportunities for placements and exchanges within Europe. This programme is now managed by Ecotec. Contact Ecotec for more information.
Grundtvig - Adult Education
Grundtvig provides opportunities for institutions offering adult education to cooperate with institutions around Europe. Grundtvig is now managed by Ecotec. Contact Ecotec for more information.

Transversal programme
The transversal programme includes Arion study visits, which are managed by Ecotec. It also includes activities that focus on language learning and innovation in ICT, previously covered by Lingua and Minerva.
